Salam Market & Bakery
About This Spot
Salam Market & Bakery is a quiet heartbeat for anyone seeking a genuine taste of Middle Eastern life tucked into Columbus’s diverse tapestry. The moment you step inside, there’s a sense of calm purpose—a place where familiar faces behind the counter welcome you like an old friend, and the air carries the warm, comforting scent of freshly baked pita and savory pies just out of the oven.
This grocery store feels much more than a routine stop for ingredients; it’s a small community hub where time slows just enough for you to savor each detail. The atmosphere moves at an easy rhythm, marked by the soft hum of conversation and the occasional friendly exchange over a handful of spice jars or a well-trimmed cut of meat. Every corner holds something telling of shared stories, whether in the rows of authentic spices and pantry staples or the carefully prepared pies with layers of familiar flavors—spinach, cheese, or more adventurous blends that hint at family traditions and creative touches.
Behind the scenes, the owners run their butcher section with evident care, ensuring fresh, high-quality selections that draw many regulars who appreciate the consistent attention to what’s on offer. The bakery side is just as thoughtful, turning out pastries that vanish quickly because they feel like little handcrafted celebrations of home. There’s a subtle pride woven into the way these spaces are kept—clean, organized, and inviting without ever feeling staged.
What makes Salam Market & Bakery truly special is the quiet kindness that permeates the experience. It’s a place where you’re not just shopping but connecting—with the vendors who know your preferences, with the rhythms of a culture expressed in food, and even with yourself as you explore ingredients and flavors that surprise and comfort in equal measure.

Friendly brothers, kind, and great customer service. Khalid runs the meat department and they make delicious savory pies. I do at least 1 visit every week, what can I say. I like my meat fresh.

One of the best Halal supermarkets in town. They have a huge collection of middle Eastern groceries and products. I usually come here for the pita bread which is available fresh on Mondays and Thursdays. They sell Halal meat as well but not sure if it is Zabeeha Halal, better to check with the owner before you buy. It is not that easy to spot right away, look for the sign. It is next to Dollar General. The owner is soft spoken and friendly. Good place to buy your Halal groceries if you live close by.

Love this place. They have everything you desire in a middle-east market including a butcher shop. Clean and organized. They do a good job with baking fresh pita and various types of pies. They get creative with the pies too. For example, they have falafel, chicken curry, eggplant, and spicy shawarma to name a few. The owners are friendly and helpful. A1 for me!

One of the best Mediterranean stores in town, they always have high quality products and the staff are friendly. Their pies are amazing especially the cheese pie and the spinach pie but make sure you order them 1 day ahead as it get sold out quickly. Defiantly I recommend shopping there.
